Great idea to do a re-make of this classic. Thanksgiving isn't complete without a listen. Truly timeless.
Alice's Restaurant. It celebrates their greatest export Food. Americans love their Thanksgiving Holiday. 22 minutes should be enough to get you right through the meal and then play it again while you fill the dishwasher. A little dinner music is always appropriate. But after three minutes of Over the River and Through the Woods, what else is there. After the plethora of football games and you want everyone to go home. Replay the album.kaye shinker
A Classic from the 70's. It is still as humorous and funny as when I first heard it while living in the USA
My original CD of Alice's Restaurant wore out years ago. Having recently seen Arlo live in South Australia I was delighted to find this 30th Anniversary edition. I was even moreso when I found the live version of the title track was virtually his live show performance. The album remains a worthy purchase, even if you have the original.
It sounds like this album was only recorded yesterday. Arlo Guthrie has done the world of folk music proud over the years and is still going strong.
40 years ago Arlo Guthrie wrote Alice's Restaurant and it was fun and interesting and a little bit naughty. What can I say.
Anything that can make you smile in this day and age has won my vote. To listen to Arlo re-sing and remaster this classic album is a real treat.
His voice has not changed one bit and he adds just a little bit of humour to the new version of Alice that stirs up a little giggle and makes you realise that if you can have a sense of humour about religion, or politics or yourself then the world is a better place. And who would have thought that his Motorcycle Song would be still so good after all this time.
A timeless classic to make you smile.
